THIS IS NOT FUNNY
Don’t let the balloons and bright colors fool you… this is for mature audiences only.
Balloons are a funny thing. You pay a buck or fifteen (hey, singing balloons are expensive) to hold a string that ends in a latex air-container; but in a child’s world, balloons are magic. So where does childhood end and adulthood begin? When do balloons stop being a thing of beauty and become a choking hazard? Theatre Nuevo looks to both the sky and the television for answers. This is Not Funny takes a second glance at the line between childhood innocence and a jaded adulthood using balloons, poetry, and real-life newscasts—all in an easily digestible, vaudeville form… and it really is funny. We promise.
